My Principles

As an Independent Candidate, I will purely and simply represent you. Rather than have policies, I have principles- which I outline below. I will act in accordance with the principles when representing you. I will span party lines and vote with whichever policy/idea makes sense (regardless of party). I will vote against anything which goes against them and I will raise anything required. I have no party leader. I am accountable only to you.

1. OUR BREXIT

As a considered Brexiteer, I will vote alongside the Conservatives to ensure we get a successful Brexit and return powers from Brussels to London. But I want to go even further and fight for more powers to be returned to us here in Hull and Yorkshire. I will fight to protect the EU funding our community receives and work with European businesses here.

2. OUR JOBS AND BUSINESSES

As a businesswoman, I understand what’s needed to attract the right investment and get things moving in our city. As a young woman, I was forced to move south for work, and I want our young people to be able to build their futures here, in Hull. I will support businesses of all sizes and want us to lead the way in new industries such as Technology and Renewable Energy.

3. OUR NHS

I want to protect the future of our NHS. I believe we should have a NHS were the workers are respected and quality care is consistently provided for all. I also feel passionately that mentalhealth issues need to be taken just as seriously as physical health

4. OUR EDUCATION

I want the very best academic education for our kids, but I also want to also see non-academic education valued too. Not every child is the same and not every child learns in the same way.

5. OUR PUBLIC SERVICES

I feel strongly our money being spent wisely. Before calling for extra taxes, I will be calling to ensure our current taxes are not being wasted.

6. OUR HOMES

We need decent homes for everybody in Hull. I want to see empty houses in Hull being repaired and turned back in to homes where people can get on and get ahead. We all deserve somewhere safe and warm to lay our head.

7. OUR YOUNG PEOPLE

My teenage years were difficult so I know how important youth services are to our young people. We need to give continued hope to young people that this is their city, that there are opportunities here for them, and help them fulfil their potential.

8. OUR ELDERS

We have an absolute duty of care to our older people. They have paid into the system all of their lives and they deserve solid state pensions and an affordable level of good care, should the need arise.

9. OUR RESPONSIBILITIES OVERSEAS

Labour and the Tories have prioritised overseas aid, often at the expense of our citizens. I would fight to repeal the legal commitment to overseas aid funding so we can reinvest more at home and ensure that overseas aid is spent wisely and not wasted in order to meet targets.

10. OUR SENSE OF PRIDE

I want us all to be proud of our home and for the fantastic momentum of the City Of Culture to continue. For our sense of independence and community to last for future generations
